On the Sunset way
This evening coming home from the top of the hill where I live I have seen a magnificentl spectacle.
There were all the Alps enlightened from the last light.
The sky was pink and pale blue. The few clouds looked like painted by oil creating streaks in the sky.
The horizon was incredibly clear and in the distance I could see the planes taking off and landing in Milan Malpensa.
A short time ago I used to run home to take my camera with the anxiety to don't miss the shot ... this evening I have remained there alone enjoying the very beautiful moment ...
I have seen, you can only imagine ...

Massimo Busacca during the match Ermengildo Zegna vs VF International last friday in Mendrisio.
The match ended 3-0 for the Zegna Team.
This is was the first time I have had the chance to take soccer photos. It was really an interesting esperience for me. The result weren't very good but I know I can improve.
I also have had the chance to be present last week to a conference from Mr Busacca about his experience and career and it was also really interesting for me.
I have brought home a few points to think about.
I think he is an interesting person with a magnetic look.

I will never forget
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Obsesion in Lanzarote
The most beautiful road I have ever seen is probably LZ-67 that goes from Yaiza to the Montañas del Fuego and Tinajo passing though the Timanfaya National Park.
This road was built from the same lava material of the region, with no horizontal road markings, to keep it in harmony with the countryside.
All around an incredible landscape of magnificent desolation.
I love the road, the road carry me, the road enchants me like an obsession ...

More than 30 years ago I went in Val Devero with my family and friends and I remember clear as it has been yesterday a long walk up in the mountains and the magical path with an incredible amount of blueberries along the way.
I was less than 10 but I remeber everything and in my memories this place is the Blueberries place.
Today i came back again first time after so many years. I was with my mother and the blueberries are in the same place ... we enjoyed so much.
More than 30 years ago my mother was careful with me and my brothers running on the path .... today I was careful to my mother walking on the path ... nothing seems changed ... but so many years are passed ....

Cueva de Los Verdes
One of the most beautiful places I have visited in Lanzarote is Cueva de Los Verdes.
I was without tripod so I have tried to do of my best with the D700, but the feeling with the camera wasn't perfect and the fault is mine. Inside the tube was absolutely dark and it was difficult to see the people downthere , in fact I believed there was anyone.
The camera worke with Iso auto (It's a shame I know) and the shot is 3200 iso.
Cueva de los Verdes is a lava tube located in the island of Lanzarote. The cave is a protected area of the Canary Islands. The cave was created around 3,000 years ago from a volcanic eruption in La Corona. An enormous lava stream flowed over the Malpaís de la Corona. For a long time, the lava stream flowed which left the top part to become a cave.
In about 20 spots, the cover of the cave collapsed and formed. Cueva de los Verdes is formed from parts of the volcanic soils and extends from 1 km to 6 kilometres of old lava streams. The streams are the second longest in the world.
The cave walls are colorful. Parts of the cave are deep. Parts of the caves are covered with sea water.
The cave is famous for its concert hall which can hold up to about 500 people.

The fact that it has remained undeveloped is somewhat strange in many other respects, as it has a very sheltered bay, protected from the prevailing winds and currents by the Punta Gorda.
The main thing that probably prevented the village developing along the lines of the major resort Puerto del Carmen, is the lack of a sandy beach.
In fact it is this black, rather rocky beach that gives Playa Quemada its Spanish name of The Burnt Beach.

I found where an accommodation should not have time for lunch and dinner and just arrived on site I rented a bike for a more direct contact with places. Many of these trips I have photos but vivid and exciting memories that I carry inside.
Pedal to Arrecife just before sunset, the road runs between the airport and 0ceano. The wind carries the sand on the road and slow down at certain points to avoid falling. Black rocks, sand and white silhouettes of distant volcanoes in the golden light of evening. At my side a jet takes off for a run, speeding up my rides on an impossible challenge that makes me smile: he passes me, leaves the floor and rises in the sky but I am down here in this desolate and barren landscape .. . yet I feel ... already passion!

Simplicity is everything.
When you need vacation you need also to clear your mind from every thought.
This is an image I love so much because remember me about a beautiful vacation.
This is a morning on the Atlantic Ocean.
Every morning I used to get up and looking out the horizon was covered by clouds but the wind in a few hours dragged them away ... The first rays came out like something magic ... every morning, the sea like a painting ... this is so relaxing for me.
The certainty that wind will come dragging every worry away is my way to be positive.

Oniric Experience
Sometimes happens I have something in my mind. There was a shot I wanted to realize but I have never found the perfect conditions to realize it. The sun raising from the Maspalomas Dunes at dawn is very difficult to realize because when the sun come out form the sea is often covered by clouds. For a week I get up and went on the Dunes to realize this shot but every day when the sun came out form the clouds was too much hight from the sea to be captured in only one shot. It looked as there was something I could admire every morning but impossible to shot so I decided to try another way ... this is the result. I have done two shots, one for the sun and one for the dunes from the some point of view and then merged them. while I was doing this work in Photoshop I thought it wasn't really a shot but an image so I decided to rotate the image with the sun and put the sun on the right to give a strange surreal sensation, the title came out suddenly "Oniric Experience" is something irreal ....

Calimas are caused by dust storms that have been stirred up by high winds in the Sahara desert and are then blown over to the Canary Islands by southeasterly winds.
The very fine sand and dust particles cause the air to become difficult to see through for any distance thick and the appearance and visibility is like what you get during a thick fog. The difference being that in fog it is cool and damp but in a calima it is hot and dry.
During the time a calima is over the island, every surface will get covered in fine reddish brown dust.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The spectator
What better way to begin a new year than a jump in Barcelona? Recently I have read some books from Carlos Ruiz Zafon
like "The Shadow of the Wind" and " The Angel's Game".
In these books I have found an unknown Barcelona ... misterious ... charming .. so I decided to went there once more to breath
that atmosphere.
This shot resume everything ... people goes and I'm only a spectator.

I went out to take this shot. The evening was perfect and I needed this shot for a book.
The funny thing is that while I was there taking a series of shots there was someone spying to me ...
When I looked down to my feet there a was a fox a few meters from me, but only just a look and the fox was very far!

Moment of peace.
Music.
It is the rest from the continuous suffering of the living.
They are the sounds of the time in the time.
They are the memories that every note in you leaves.
The song of the time of the life.
Music.
Peace for the soul.
Moment in which an irripetibile series of memories passes in our mind.
A note of sadness remain in the soul.
A melody of joy remain in the soul.
The endless melody of the life.
The song from the mind of a man.
The song of the life of a man.
Music.
It is the lonely concert of the soul .
It is the only note from the silence.
It is the whole of wonderfuls sounds.
It has in its deep inside the asleep of the nature.
It is the breath of every thing living.
The shaking of all the human feelings.
Music.
An air flying in the life of every man.
An endless melody that remains a memory in the time.

[Bivacco Sandro Redolf - Alpe Lusia]
... the air is cold, then take refuge in bivouac for a snack and a chat ....
The atmosphere affects me, it's dark inside the door is open, outside the mountains and the light that enters the door draws the outline of my friend ... is a good time, almost did not feel tired ....

There was a beautiful bay and anyone all around. here was a parked car so I started walking in search of something interesting to shot and looking down to the sea I saw this couple on the rocks, was a very romantic scene and I took a stolen shot cause the scene moved in me some interesting thoughts about love and relationships ...

Yesterday evening
The evening is coming down on the motionless landscape ... we go out on the terrace ... there's nothing more to do here ... echoes of voices from the past resound in our thoughts ... streams of us once more children running on the lawn.
Our parents talking peacefully, a great table where we all are sitting eating, laughing playing cards ... and above all unaware of our future.
Some of my best childhood memories are in this great house overlooking the hill, downthere in the distance the lake silent and placid like thousand others evenings ... just like this evening.
There's nothing more to do here ... it's only our little world crumbling ... little by little our world disapperars while out there the evening is coming down like a curtain.
The places remain intacts ... only the voices run out ...
In certains traditions is used to say that every people dying is like a library burning,
this is true for us too.
There are moments that haven't been written anywhere, family memories handed down by voice ... and every voice turning off let these memories fading.
We walk down the hill. I'm with my mother and my sister.
We are the survivors and the caretakers of many dear memories.
Between the narrow and beloved streets the lake appears glittering of lights.
All around a lot of little villages enlightened in the distance.
Looks like a metropolis and yet it's not.
It's our little world, the most loved place ... despite the way of the life had lead us in a lot
of amazing places the soul has been always here in this place where the memories survive and our voices resound from a time passed by now.
The places remain intacts ... only the voices run out ...

in search of
I could stay for hours taking shots of "the nowhere" ... I will never catch its essence ... just beacuse it's the nowhere
... potrei stare ore a fotografare il nulla ... senza mai riuscire a catturarne l'essenza ... proprio per il suo essere nulla ...

A great and priceless thing is a new interest! How
it takes possession of a man! how it clings to him,
how it rides him! I strode onward from the Schwarenbach
hostelry a changed man, a reorganized personality.
I walked into a new world, I saw with new eyes.
I had been looking aloft at the giant show-peaks only as
things to be worshiped for their grandeur and magnitude,
and their unspeakable grace of form; I looked up at
them now, as also things to be conquered and climbed.
My sense of their grandeur and their noble beauty
was neither lost nor impaired; I had gained a new
interest in the mountains without losing the old ones.
I followed the steep lines up, inch by inch, with my eye,
and noted the possibility or impossibility of following
them with my feet. When I saw a shining helmet of ice
projecting above the clouds, I tried to imagine I saw
files of black specks toiling up it roped together with a
gossamer thread.

Andrea is my older brother's son. He is very spectacular in front of the camera but after a long session as model was truly tired and waiting for me playing with him but without my camera!
This is the best shot of the day for the intense expression of wait.

... "come and shot my roses" Federica says to me ... and I go ... really beautiful the roses ... and endless bower of red roses, ... then she picks up from the ground a whitered rose and place it on a little gate ... I watch and while her hands is stretching undecided to take the rose again ... I shot ...
maybe the best shot of that day ... the useless, fallen and whitered rose but still charming as only a red rose can be ... her youg hand almost grazing the rose ... what will be for you, Federica, on the other side of that gate?
The gate is a place of passage it separates or join ... beyond the unknown ... memories ... intangible moments for us ... hopes for them, that have all the life ahead ...

I think this shot talks itself but if you want a title ...
"When I grow up I'll be a pilot" - Dreams at the Airshow.
I was there talking with some friends and waiting for the next flight, while talking I was also watching to this child that very slowly was walking towards the airplanes in a forbidden zone. I have mounted on my camera the Nikon 80-200, so I tried a shot fashinated fom the mix of surprise and excitation I could feel in the slowly steps of the child.

Trekking in the Vintgar Canyon
Vintgar Gorge
The River Radovna cut a 1.6 km gorge, called Vintgar, between Hom and Boršt. The Vintgar gorge is surrounded by steep slopes, densely forested with beech and embellished by the waterfalls, pools and rapids of the river.
Although the gorge is very close to Gorje and only 4 km northwest of Bled, it has been long unknown to the people.
It was discovered by accident in 1891 by Jakob Žumer, the then mayor of Gorje and by Benedikt Lergetporer, a map maker and photographer from Bled at a time when the water level of the Radovna was very low.
On their journey through the previously impassable gorge they were so stunned by the beauty and the mystery of nature that they decided to make it permanently accessible to visitors. Construction was extremely hazardous due to the wild nature of the gorge. The official opening of the Vintgar gorge took place on August 26 1893.
Echoes of the swiftly flowing water fill the narrow gorge, which nowadays may be enjoyed by walking one of the paths, the numerous bridges and the Žumer galleries. Every visitor who walks to the end of the gorge is rewarded by the sight of the 16 m high Šum waterfall. The Vintgar gorge has been included in the list of most important Slovenian sights and attracts more and more visitors each year.

Certosa di Pavia
detail - better in Large Size
Closer to Pavia than to Milan - along a canal connecting the two towns - the building of this charterhouse began in 1386 by order of duke Gian Galeazzo Visconti. It was intended to be both a Carthusian monastery and a sepulchral church for the Viscontis.

The leaves are falling, falling as if from far up,
as if orchards were dying high in space.
Each leaf falls as if it were motioning "no."
And tonight the heavy earth is falling
away from all other stars in the loneliness.
We're all falling. This hand here is falling.
And look at the other one. It's in them all.
And yet there is Someone, whose hands
infinitely calm, holding up all this falling.

wonderful drops ....
Last night I had a strange dream.
I was in a fantastic place and there was an incredible light.
All around was beauty and light.
I was walking through flowers and trees in a fantastic landscape.
Suddenly I was in a place like a park ... in that place there were gardeners bathing the grass. The water created a great reflection of light all around ...
The drops flew against the sky before falling back intact on the grass where they remained there shining.
I removed my shoes and started dancing on the bathed grass. I walked all around with my naked feet and I felt so well.
When I was so happy someone asked me why I walked arond without shoes and in that moment I remembered of my shoes ... a strange state of anxiety took me about my shoes ... I went on my walks searching for my shoes. It seems that was wrong dancing without shoes....
Then I waked up and I thought :
“you could be even happy dancing on naked feet if
none tells you that you haven’t the shoes”
Don't pay attention to the voices that say to you that something lacks you ... you will be less happy!

Last night I had a dream.
I went to my mother's home and I went into the kitchen ...
the great and luminous kitchen of the house where I grew ...
My dad died four years ago ... I know so well ...
In the dream, also I knew my dad was dead ...
The daylight was coming in from the large and great window ...
I went into the kitchen and ... My dad was there!
He was watching out from the great window ...
I saw his shoulders and the green garden outside.
Suddenly he turned to me and he was smiling.
I exclaimed "Dad" ! .... but he put his finger on his mouth
as if to say "Don't talk"
He kept in his hands a tape-recorder ... an old black tape of the seventies.
( I knew that tape, really belonged to my father)
Then he turned on and has started a music ... a song that I knew.
It was an instrumental theme of relaxing music ... but I didn't know the title ...
Suddenly my dream ends.
My father was there, in the light of the window listening to that music watching to me
and smiling ...
This morning I took my iPod searching for that music ...
Now I know what is the song, now I know why my dad came to me in the dream!
My dad is an angel ... my personal angel!
I can see him with my mind ... now he is sitting here with me in my car and he is smiling with me!
The tape last night was playing "Angel Wings"
